Laser Engraving a Cutting Board with the Ortur Laser Master 3
I used the Ortur Laser Master 3 to burn a design into a cutting board that I made by gluing up scraps of walnut wood.
This works very well for burning designs, and I've had the best results with walnut, cherry, and mahogany.
In the future I plan to use it on metal, acrylic, glass, and tile.

Using CA Glue to Joint on the Table Saw
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
In this Quick Tip I show how to use CA glue with a straight edge to make your table saw into a jointer. If you're like me and don't have a jointer, this can be a very useful technique to get a flat straight edge on your boards. It is possible to do this with double sided tape, but it works better with cyanoacrylate glue (CA glue). You can get Starbond CA glue on their website here: (affiliate l...

Corner Bass Trap DIY - Acoustic Dampener

I made this bass trap for the corner of my home studio to absorb some of the echoes and noise in the room. When paired with other acoustic treatments, this bass trap helps improve the sound in the corner of a room. 1:46 I don't understand the grinding at vertical angle. Doesn't it dull the cutting edge?

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff Місяць тому

      It's not vertical; probably 70 to 80 degrees. I was matching the existing bevel angle on that cutter.

    What if the board has been finished by polyurethane, will it transfered well?

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff Місяць тому

      No, this will not work well if the board already has a finish on it. The toner needs to be able to soak into the wood.

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff 7 днів тому

      I suggest going with what the packaging recommends for the drywall anchor, but if you don't have that, then I would drill a hole like this that is the size of the shaft of the anchor.

    can I use this method for masonry walls?

    • @BobsWoodStuff

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff 2 місяці тому

      Yes, I would apply this same method to masonry drilling, but I like to have a little bit of breathing room around the shaft of the screw when drilling into masonry. I would also check the box of fasteners for the suggested bit.

    Great video! Easy to follow, and the plans are great. One teensy critique: your background music is WAY too loud. I'm trying to hear you talk over it, and have the music blasting away is a bit distracting. Other than that minor quibble, really good!

      I would do it after the staining. The stain itself may raise the grain from the moisture.

      Sorry to hear that. Carving tools in general are much harder to sharpen than woodworking chisels. I had to reprofile and hone my Schaaf carving tools to get a nice edge. Nowadays I would just buy the Swiss Made one that already has a great edge and all I need to do is strop.

      Fair enough. I first tried it with a very cheap 2-sided whetstone to use more relatable/accessible tools, but the stone would wear away so quickly that I could never maintain a flat sharpening surface. As a woodworker I already owned the diamond stones for chisel sharpening.

    Super nice video quality and nice craftsmanship. I think the bass trap title is misleading though- bass frequencies weren’t even tested, and based on the little I know about acoustics (I have a home studio), that would not take care of low frequencies. I’m sure it did help with basic room sound reflection and build up in the corners though. Some who are less knowledgeable might go to the trouble to follow your design and discover it still doesn’t help their bass issues much. Looks like some other commenters made similar points.
